I went for a checkup this week. All my blood numbers look fabulous. But my BP was 13x/9x.

I think it had been creeping up for a while, but once I started losing weight it looked to be all right. So I stopped checking.

I'm bummed, he wanted to prescribe BP meds (based on one reading, I was floored!!). I know nothing about meds for this. I put him off, asking if exercise would help, he said possibly. I'm also cutting my caffeine. I had had a 3rd cuppa coffee yesterday within an hour or two of my appointment.

I get rechecked in 3 weeks. I've been on strict low carb for a good 6 weeks, possibly a little longer. I was doing 6 week cure (and had quit caffeine for the first two weeks), and I am wondering if I just can't tolerate caffeine anymore. OH! And I usually forget to take most of my Potassium, even though I have tablets here. Possibly a factor?

Any other strategies to reduce BP (please don't tell me to cut salt, I know about that one, I've already started using Lite Salt).

What about 10-15g of 70% dark chocolate/day, and a few ounces of fruit (strawberries, tangerines, never more than 3oz)? I keep my net carbs in the 20-30 range, though I ate a quesadilla last night and...gained two pounds. This on top of increasing my exercise and eating ~1000 calories/day last week. Crimey.

Any tips would be appreciated.

I've also been sticking to the PP WOE in a way in which I know I usually lose weight - if anything I'm stricter on the carbs, lower on the fat, but eating more protein.

Thing is, I've put about 6lbs on. My clothes feel looser, and I think I can see my body looking slightly more toned, but I am concerned about the weight gain. Is this normal? I assume I'm putting on some muscle and probably losing a bit of fat at the same time (I hope!) I haven't done much exercise for about 10 years, so I'm wondering if at some point, I'll stop putting muscle on and start losing weight again...

Hi everyone. I have been doing the 6-week cure and I'm on week 3, meat week. I have been doing low carb WOE since last summer. At first when I started, I gained weight as I think I was just eating too much. Low carb but still around 40ish, in the 50s for protein, and fat from healthy fats up around 100g. This caused me to gain rather than lose. It took me almost a year to lose that weight that I gained and now I'm back where I started 1 year ago.
I am petite, 5' tall, and medium boned, and I'm 41 years old, trying to lose the last bit of baby weight from a baby who is now 3 years old, lol:jawDrop:.

Any tips? ON my first 2 weeks of the cure, I was having the 3 shakes and 1 meal a day (3-4 oz of protein, low carb). I did lose about 1.5 lbs but not nearly as good as most people do. I did have a hard time with the shakes because I missed chewing so I would do silly things like grab a handful of walnuts or a chunk of coconut. So, guess it boils down to cheating. No cheating allowed. On past diets, like after baby number 1, I could cheat and still be successful. Guess it's the age factor now.

I am hooked on this WOE and don't miss grains (cut those completely in January) and don't miss fruit right now (though might like to add a little in occasionally when I reach goal weight).

So frustrating to lose this weight. Did I mention I exercise A LOT? About 6 days a week. I run for about 40 minutes 4-5 mornings and I do weights at home and resistance bands. Currently, I'm running and exercising before breakfast as I heard this was helpful. I know all about Slow Burn and tried that at home but you really need a gym and I can't do that right now.

OK, hope to learn something here. I don't have any of the other Eades books, just 6 week cure, but I'm open to suggestions on others. Thanks all.
Claudia

For the past week, I have averaged ~100g protein; 50g fat; 650mg sodium; 20 net carbs; and 1000 calories. Water is usually between 72-90oz (due to a medical condition and a previous bout of heat stroke). Am I getting enough protein and fat? I figure that with my carbohydrates this low that I'd perhaps lose a little faster, but I know that a pound a week avg. is nothing to laugh at for being 130/5 ft 2. I have just been trying to lose these last 10lbs for eight months and I'm a bit impatient : )

For the record, no alcohol, no caffeine (not even tea), no smoking, nothing but light walking for exercise, I take some heavy-duty vitamins for my condition, and I do eat nuts and cheese. I guess I'm just looking for suggestions?
